Phase two construction of the East European High Speed Line
Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) has tasked Tractebel Engineering with monitoring and supervision of construction of the second phase of the East European High Speed Line, from Baudrecourt to Vendenheim.
Following a call for tenders, RFF appointed the consortium of Tractebel Development and Coyne et Bellier (both subsidiaries of Tractebel Engineering) to act as Owner’s Assistant for the second phase of the East European High Speed Line.
Tractebel Engineering already successfully acted as Owner for a section of the first phase of the line, in the Marne valley to the East of Reims. The second phase concerns a section of 106 km from Baudrecourt to Vendenheim near Strasbourg. Work on the new section is due to start in 2010.
This high speed rail link is considered by the EU as a priority project for the trans-European rail network. With a length of 1 500 km it will connect Paris, Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Vienna and Bratislava, and eventually also Budapest.
Tractebel Engineering, a recognised expert in large scale rail projects, is involved in studies for numerous major projects in Europe, such as the Lyon-Turin link, the Lyon rail bypass, the Rhine-Rhone High Speed Line and the SEA (South Europe Atlantic) High Speed Line, Tours-Bordeaux section.
