Extension of Brussels International Airport
Tractebel Development Engineering was in charge of the management of architecture and engineering studies and of the realisation of engineering services regarding buildings technology (i.e. electricity, HVAC, lifts), airport technology (i.e. baggage handling systems and boarding bridges), safety and security technology and communication technology. Tractebel Engineering, through Technum, also contributed to the structural design of the extensions.

Preliminary design for the huge challenge linking the French high-speed train network to the Italian rail network, between Lyon and Turin, for Lyon Turin Ferroviaire. The project must enable a mixed traffic of passengers and goods, and comprises two tunnels (53 and 12 km long), a crossing & emergency station, and a 1,300 m long viaduct.

Multimodal platform of Dourges
Design, tender preparation, site supervision for railways and logistics infrastructures of a large scale multimodal platform (260 hectares) at Dourges, for the Nord-Pas de Calais Authority. The multimodal platform is connected to all major transport axes: inland waterways, motorways and railways. About 150.000 containers will transit through this platform which will play a decisive role in the Regional and European freight transport policy.

Preliminary "routes and structures" design for the implementation of the 110 km canal linking the Seine and Oise basin, the Nord Pas de Calais and the North of Europe, for Voies Navigables de France. The canal will allow traffic up to 4,400 tonnes.

Project Management jointly with Bureau d'architectes Frédéric Rolland at Angers and engineering of the railway equipment (tram and bus maintenance equipment, track, overhead contact system and signalling) for the construction of a maintenance centre intended to service 20 to 40 trams and up to 40 articulated buses.

Reengineering of the lock complexes of the Panama Canal
Development of a third locks complex at the end of the Canal near the Pacific Ocean. The project is an element of the Master Plan established by the Panama Canal Authority with a view to the increase of the capacity of the Canal. This in order to allow the crossing of Post Panamax vessels and thus maintain the vital role of the Canal.
